Fried Chicken Nonsense

Okay, so I usually try to stay out of political/religious debates because I hate getting worked up about this stuff & everyone is stubborn when it comes to their beliefs and views... the constant bickering about how wrong each others' belief system is, isn't going to change anyone's minds. This, I learned by listening to many heated debates between the different denominations in my Christian high school. Saying that... I'm  putting my 2 cents in about this ridiculous Chick-fil-a situation.

First of all, boycotting the restaurant franchise is not going to change their views or the foundation upon which their business is built. That is set in stone. Yes, maybe your lack of visits will mean that they won't make as much money, but let's be honest... that company is spitting out money left & right. A few hundred thousand people not eating there isn't going to hurt them.

Second, maybe their views are a little antiquated, but they are biblical & they aren't saying anything that we haven't all heard a thousand times before. Why is it, all of a sudden, getting everyones' panties in a twist?

With that being said, I don't necessarily agree with their stance, but that doesn't mean I'm going to quit eating there or that I am going to eat there any more than I do normally. The fact is, you don't have to eat there or support them in any way. That is your American right. However, we shouldn't condemn each other for having our own thoughts & opinions. If this is your political statement for the year, good for you! Hate to break it to you though, boycotting a chicken restaurant is not going to change the minds of the staunch republicans and conservatives in our country. In fact, it will probably make their hate even stronger.

Do I wish that things were more equal for everyone? You better believe it! But there are better ways of going about getting your message across. Think about women's suffrage... it takes time to make things happen. Think about making a change in a positive way, not negative. People respond to that much better.

I know my opinion doesn't matter in the long haul, but I'm an American & have the right to have an opinion... so I am stating it.

To all those people who are eating their weight in chicken nuggets today for "appreciation day" - have fun! I'll be stuck in my office eating cucumbers and cottage cheese! Ha.
